Crowfall Skinning Guide - By : EzzorathTV
Welcome to the Crowfall Skinning Guide. In this guide we will take you through the required steps you need to take to become a Skinner fast and efficiently. We will also show you how to improve your skinning with racial choices and the energetic harvesting ability.
Skinning in Crowfall
Skinning in Crowfall is used to obtain resources for multiple different crafters. Skinning resources are used for Alchemists, Leatherworkers, Necromancers, Cooking, and more. You can always benefit your guild or your group by becoming a Skinner on the side, as it will help push progression. You can also sell resources to crafters(trading) and make gold that way to also further your progression.
Resources from Skinning
The first thing you need to do to become a Skinner is purchase a common quality Skinner discipline for 325 gold from the Exploration Discipline Vendor at any temple. This will allow you to equip Intermediate Knives and then find Uncommon Disciplines. In Dregs, this will protect you from losing your harvester materials (as a skinner)
The next thing you are going to want to do is make your way to a runemaking station (pictured above) and get the resources to make a Runestone Knife(pictured below)
Once you have an Intermediate Runestone Knife, you'll want to make your way to the open world and start slaying Animals and collecting Hide, Meat, and anything else off them that drops for now. You'll want to keep skinning the Animals until one drops an Uncommon Skinner Exploration Discipline. This Discipline, once equipped, lets you equip your Specialty Toolkit that will give you a % chance to harvest Blood and Bone. You will want to gather every Uncommon Skinner Exploration Discipline you can while skinning as these are the key to furthering your progression as a skinner.
Gaining resources from Skinning will require obtaining a Skinner Specialty Toolkit from the Exploration Discipline Vendor in any Temple. You may also buy higher quality Toolkits from Eternal Kingdoms if players are selling them.
Animal Blood is very useful for Alchemists. Alchemy is a good crafting to pick up as a skinner as you will have plentiful resources to provide for your own craft.
Animal Bone is also very useful for Alchemists.
Hide will be used for Leatherworking and making mounts.
Additives for Necromancy
While you are killing animals for skinning, you will come across Necromancy Additives. Save these to turn into crafters as they are usually quite valuable for crafting Vessels.
Progressing Skinning / Becoming a better Skinner in Crowfall
To become a better Skinner in Crowfall, you'll need to first start upgrading your first harvesting toolkit. You may upgrade your current harvesting toolkit to make a higher quality version of the same harvesting toolkit with higher stats.
When crafting toolits, they must be identical quality. You will want to gather all the Green/Uncommon Skinner Exploration Disciplines you find to contribute to this progression.
Domination Dust is available for sale at the Exploration Disicpline Vendor at any Temple for 4000 gold.
Skinning Stats / Dedicated Skinning Attributes
Your Skinning statistics, like many other details, is tied to your Dexterity. Character builds and Races with higher Dex will be naturally more efficient Skinners. It is best to be Skinning on a Dex-based class and race, and absolute best with the Minotaur due to their racial benefits listed here.
You can find these statistics by opening your inventory, pressing "Details" and opening the "Explore" tab. Scroll down until you find Skinning, and hover over and statistic you are interested in increasing.
Eventually, you may find yourself harvesting enough without interruption to the point where you may want to put away your PvP gear, save its durability and wear some harvesting gear. While this will be risky for survivability, crafted harvesting gear will greatly increase your skinning statistics.
Energetic Harvesting with Skinning
Every harvester is given the Energetic Harvesting ability This ability costs no resources besides the pips it will build up when you hit a resource node. The ability will grant a buff when spending those harvesting pips depending on the number spent.
The three pips you will want to hit Energetic Harvesting on Skinning will be the First Pip, Third Pip, and Fifth Pip. The first pip will give you a higher skinning statistic reducing corpse mitigations, the third pip will give you more flat Skinning Damage by 30, and the fifth pip will restore stamina to keep you harvesting longer.
You can also hit the fourth pip before (or after) hitting one of the first two pips, it will double the potency of the effect given from one of those pips(but not duration).
Skinning in Crowfall is a rewarding and easy harvesting spec to pick up. You will most likely find yourself around in the open world near forests and other areas with plentiful Animals and you will be killing them anyways, so Skinning is always easy to come by. As long as you are willing to put in the work, you can quickly find yourself providing for your guild or selling to vendors lots of resources from Skinning.
